The Magic in my Fingers
✨An ode to the legendary sitar and surbahar maestro, Annapurna Devi✨
In a world where gender norms weigh heavily on children from a very young age and the world of Indian classical music held very little space for women, The Magic In My Fingers tells a heartwarming tale of a young girl's hidden passion for music and what happens once her father unexpectedly discovers this fact. The story of loosely based on the life of Annapurna Devi!
This is a special one for me because it also happens to be the first project I’ve ever co-created as an illustrator. Allowing another artist to build on my sketches and the way I envisioned my work was a pretty intimate, incredibly unsettling, but highly recommended experience!
Thrilled that I got to do this with Kanimozhi A – she’s brought the lovely fluidity of water colours to these visuals – a very different approach and medium to what I use, which has lent a general softness to the whole visual palette. So grateful to have been a part of this @karaditales 💜
